Golf

Before you arrive at Gainey Suites Hotel, you can book your golf separately and directly with the golf course on Golfswitch to secure advance tee times or go to the individual websites of our favorite top resort courses in Scottsdale, AZ listed below.

For your convenience, we’ve gathered a list of some of our favorite popular and nearby Scottsdale golf resorts that offer a spectrum of the Scottsdale golf experience from spectacular high desert mountain scenery and to more traditionally designed yet lushly landscaped oasis style resort courses.

TPC Scottsdale

Share the passion and experience the prestige of playing the home of the “Greatest Show On Turf”, the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and where the PGA Tour professionals regularly practice and play; experience first-hand what sets Tournament Players Club apart from other golf resorts in Scottsdale.

Set in the Sonoran Desert and surrounded by the majestic McDowell Mountains, the Tournament Players Club of Scottsdale embodies the standards of excellence in golf operations worldwide. The design team of Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish created a masterful blend of challenge and playability in both the Stadium Course and the Desert Course - two uniquely different golfing venues. Designed expressly as the stage for the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open, acclaimed as the largest spectator golf event in the world and known for Tiger Woods’ infamous hole-in-one on golf’s most raucous hole, #16.

The Stadium Course has received numerous accolades, among them a ranking in Golf Digest's 'Top 10 Public Courses in Arizona.' Golf Week Magazine called them 'One of America's Best Courses,' while Conde Nast Traveler has included them among the 'Top 20 Golf and Resort Destinations in the world.' The Stadium Golf Shop is chosen annually as one of the 'Top 100 Golf Shops in America' by Golf Business Magazine.

We-Ko-Pa Golf Club

Since opening in December of 2001, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club’s Cholla Course, designed by Scott Miller, has been one of Arizona’s most highly regarded. With such high praise coming from the likes of Sports Illustrated (Top Ten Best New Courses in the World) and 2006-07 ZAGAT Survey (one of the “50 Most Popular Golf Courses in the US”), it’s easy to see why the Cholla Course has gained the following it has in the golf community.

In December of 2006, We-Ko-Pa unveiled the Saguaro course, a Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw collaboration. The popular design tandem best known for Sand Hills in Nebraska and Friar’s Head on Long Island, incorporated design elements into Saguaro not commonly seen in the desert southwest, giving Saguaro more of a classic course feel. Greens and tee boxes are in close proximity making the course an enjoyable walk and many of the green complexes offer an opening in the front to allow for the run-up shot, an option almost extinct in modern golf. Like the Cholla course, The Saguaro Course has garnered favor from national audiences. GOLF Magazine chose the course as one of the “Top 10 New Courses You can Play.” Golfweek cited Saguaro as one of the Best New Courses in 2007. They also chose Saguaro as the number one public access course in Arizona and Cholla as number two.

Both of We-Ko-Pa’s courses are threaded through an open expanse overlooking the Verde and Salt River Valleys, Red Mountain, and the legendary Superstition Mountains with no real-estate development to impede the panoramic views.

Whether you play the award-winning Cholla Course or the brand new Saguaro Course, at We-Ko-Pa you’re in for a desert golf experience unlike any other in Arizona.

Eagle Mountain Golf Club

Nestled in the ravines of Arizona's McDowell Mountains and colorized by dramatic sunrises and sunsets, Eagle Mountain beckons those who desire an outstanding golf experience. Opened in 1996, this Scott Miller designed course is a spectacular representation of man's creation in harmony with nature as it winds through natural box canyons, rolling hills, and lush desert valleys. At Eagle Mountain you'll find a challenging yet fair golf experience, with contoured fairways and immaculately maintained emerald greens throughout this par-71, 6800-yard layout.

Scottsdale golf courses have attracted millions of golfers over the years, for a number of reasons. But to truly understand the virtues of Scottsdale golf, a personal visit is a must. Obviously we hope you choose Eagle Mountain Golf Club. In our humble opinion, it’s one of the best Scottsdale has to offer. Perched high about the Valley of the Sun, the golf course pitches and rolls with the dramatic topography of the property. The views from the golf course are spectacular with the entire southeast Valley on display. It’s one of the finest examples of desert golf available for public play. Plan your trip today. The golf course gradually descends on the way out before doubling back to climb up the slope on the way in. This subtle elevation change lies at the heart of the dramatic golf experience at Sun Ridge Canyon.
